Camping in the Northwest - From a family who thought they'd share notes
Mayfield Lake

Reservations through Tacoma Power Parks.

Overall.
Take note -- we only drove through this park, and did not camp here.  Our thoughts are that this is not our type of campground since the campsites are a bit tight and it really isn't a big campground.  However, this does make the park pretty peaceful.  In addition, we are very impressed with Tacoma Power Parks as they are especially clean, with this one living up to that quality.

Campground.
Park features include a swimming beach, boat launch, playground, horseshoe pits and a volleyball court.  You can also fish year round for trout, bass and coho salmon.

Campsite.
As mentioned earlier, the sites are a bit tight.  There are a handful right on Mayfield Lake (called "waterfront spots") which are very nice, especially if you have a boat.

Group Sites.
15-unit group camp area open between Memorial Day weekend and Oct. 15.  It offers a kitchen shelter and its own bathroom - making it perfect for family reunions and other large get togethers.  It's separated from the other camping areas, which gives campers a sense of privacy.

Day Use Area.
Very nice day use area with a fun playground on grass and offering a beach.

Bikes or No Bikes?
There is a steep hill leading down to the park, therefore the campground itself is built on a hill.  If you have kiddos strong enough to ride around on hills, bringing your bike is ok.  However the park is situated almost in a residential area so other than the park, bikes will not be useful to go outside of the park.

Vicinity.
  • Mossyrock is the nearest town -- about 20 miles away where you will find a limited amount of basic needs.  Other than that, a drive into Centralia would be your best bet.

Yes, we are camping. But we still need the Electronics.
Cell phone service: (unsure)
Air Card: (unsure)

Misc.
  • Looks as if this campground only has one host.
  • Mayfield Lake is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts
