Camping in the Northwest - From a family who thought they'd share notes
Seaquest State Park
Reservations through Washington State Parks.
Seaquest State Park is a 475-acre, year-round camping park near Mount St. Helens. The beautifully forested park claims over a mile of Silver Lake shoreline, a shallow wetland lake. Enjoy one mile of wetland trail and six miles of woodland trails for hiking and bicycling; see spectacular views of wildlife, Silver Lake and the surrounding area. There are also children's play areas and playing fields. Great seasonal fishing, boating and swimming are available nearby.
We visited this park at the very beginning of our camping adventures, therefore notes were not taken.  I can only rely on mental notes.... so wish me luck!   I do remember that this campground is only a stones throw from the Mt. St. Helens visitor center on Silver Lake.  We visited the center and walked on the bridges that extend through the wetlands.
Pretty nice campsites with some good "elbow room" from your neighbor.
This campground, I recall, had a nice offering for everyone:  park for kiddos, trails for walkers and bike riders, and I know there were even some yurts for non-campers.
Only approx.19 miles off of I-5, it is pretty accessible to and from this campground.  The nearest town is Kelso / Longview which has all of your basic necessities.
Bikes or No Bikes?
We did not take bikes, primarily because our little one was an infant, but I would take them if we went back.  The park had a lot of trails, walking paths etc. that would be great for a family bikeride.
  • I do remember a Wine Cellar about 2 blocks from the campground, with a sign advertising wine tasting.
